cybertoothtiger: (human contact stolen)

Thanks for visiting my journal. I'm finally getting around to doing the post where I explain that it's friends only.

Please don't take it personally. I'm actually fairly shy.  If I run into you a lot in the communities I visit, chances are we will become friends. You know, just like in real life. We meet a few times, one of us makes a funny comment and the other one laughs, we discover we both had a crush on Magnum, P.I. in elementary school, and eventually we might go for coffee and start hanging out.

It could happen, and I'm sure I will be the richer for it.  Especially if you like irony, friendly banter, 24, Buffy, Angel, Bones, Flashpoint and Mad Men, and dislike creepy internet weirdness, religious extremism of any stripe, brussel sprouts and badfic. Just give me some time.

Uh, okay. So. I watched The Body and Forever. I'm glad I stopped where I did the night before, because these two episodes really needed to be seen together.

Cut for spoilers )

So, [ profile] leigh57 , which was your favourite scene? I tried to guess, but there were so many I liked, it was difficult.

Waterwords that Work had a link to these award-winning environmental ads today.

At first glance, these look like really cool, creative ads. So they must be effective, right? Well, as Erik points out, actually no.

Why is it that advertising agencies forget everything they know about selling when they’re doing pro bono work? )

Found this when I was looking for a clip of Himself speaking French. (No luck on that account.) But:

Ripped from [profile] kcountess.

"The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed."
1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Strike out the books you have no intention of ever reading, or were forced to read at school and hated.
5) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

Picked up the new Whitman the other day and started reading it yesterday. Awesomeness! It's set the day Jack decides to join CTU, so there is piles of interior life going on, and some conversations with Teri about it. A few cheap shots at foreshadowing, but in a noir-ish kind of way. I loves me some noir with a side of bodice-ripper. Must have been all those garage-sale Harlequins I read in Junior High!

I'm liking it even more than the Cerasini.

In other news, the video card on my computer is well and truly fried. It fixed itself just long enough for me to write my next chapter on it, but not long enough for me to find the LAN and back it up. It's there, I just can't see it... I'm hoping to have this problem fixed by Friday. 'Cause, you know, I might need to do some work as well.

Oh, jeez. I just realized all my meetings etc. are on my Outlook on that machine, and I'm really bad at getting things onto paper as well. I might have to let Mr. Tiger take it into work and cross fingers that whomever he gets to work on it won't rummage around in the files. How embarrassing to have one of his guys reading my Jack porn! Unless it's the guy who's addicted to Superman. He might understand...

Catch22girl’s post about the woman living in her car got me thinking, and I finally picked up the copy of Deer Hunting With Jesus: Dispatches From America’s Class War that my sister sent Mr. Tiger for Christmas. It’s by Joe Bageant, a self-described red neck from Winchester, Virginia. It’s a fascinating read.

I finished the book last night, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was like 24 methadone; not as powerful as the real thing, but enough to take the edge off until I can get to my meeting.

I figured out that it's set between Nightfall and Day 1, which didn't quite work, because I think Jack was too emotionally healthy for that time period. He does have an interior life, which is an improvement, and he gives a couple of pep talks that are so cute.

Someone else read it so we can discuss!

ETA: LOSTin24's Youtube account has been suspended. Not surprising, really, but I am in mourning over the loss of this fine source of Kiefer-vid.

Marc Cerasini is the bomb. I'm only on page 68, but this book rocks.

He's weaving in character details from stuff in the sets of the show, is all I'm saying. And Greek mythology in the humourous dialogue! Lufs.

That is all.

A/N: Don't own it. This is something I'm trying out. I'm not sure if it will be my personal canon or not, but I liked the idea of an independent Teri. One more to come. Fluff.
