Found this when I was looking for a clip of Himself speaking French. (No luck on that account.) But:

(I translated -- loosely in places so he didn't sound like a robot.)

"Kiefer Sutherland admits to having a conflicted relationship with mirrors. "I do not like what I see there,” explains the actor, comfortably installed in his hotel room. “In my head, I’m better than what I see in the mirror, so I don’t look in them." In his last film, "Mirrors", realized by the Frenchman Alexandre Aja and distributed today in France, the native of London (United Kingdom) was not able to escape his reflection.

Every day during the shooting, which lasted eight weeks, he had to give his reflection to the other stars of the film -- mirrors. This confusion around the acceptance of his appearance is very complex.

Sutherland cannot bear to look at his films. "You have a unique perception of your performance. It is at the same moment intellectual and physical,” analyzes the interpreter of Jack Bauer in the series 24, in his unusually deep voice. “When I watch a film, I am distracted by my presence, we all are when we look in a mirror.”

“I notice the defects instead of this idealized image that I had of my performance. As a result, I don’t watch after the end of a scene because my vanity would urge me to change things which should not be modified. That would make directing me a real nightmare!"

Don't go so far as to believe he hates his profession. A lover of the cinema ("one of my favourite films is Subway,") methodical, general-purpose actor Kiefer Sutherland regenerates in front of cameras. Having known glory from his adolescence with films, " Stand By Me " and " The Lost Boys ", Sutherland confirmed that he was an adult with "Flatliners" and " A Few Good Men ", before a long dry spell, then finding the spotlight of “24.”

The adventures of Jack Bauer, agent of the antiterrorist cell of Los Angeles, allowed him to reach the status of global icon. His father, the famous actor Donald Sutherland, does not miss an episode, but has a quite particular way of looking at the series. "He is a true fan,” grants Kiefer Sutherland, with shining eyes. “But he speaks about Jack Bauer and makes observations as if I was not involved in the show."

At times hampered by the fame of his father, Kiefer Sutherland knew how to accept his invaluable inheritance. The two men have never made a movie together. “We have not found the right film yet,” he underlines, suddenly pensive. “It’s a thing that you only do once. You must not miss the chance.” [You have to do it right] “There is a book on which I have an option, “My Father’s Secret War,” the story of a silent man who doesn’t speak about his past durng the Second World War, before his daughter discovers a secret about who her father really is. I hope that this project will happen." It will be necessary to arrange a dense calendar. Busy almost all year long with " 24 " (even if the producers, dissatisfied with the scenarios, have just interrupted the shooting of Season 7), Kiefer Sutherland can shoot only one film a year. It’s not easy to choose the right project. " The problem with my career,” he observes rubbing himself unconsciously the chin, “Is that I have never taken time to sit down and think about the intelligent thing to do. I work on instinct. "
